Each week includes workshop sessions where you practice techniques, receive peer feedback, and work on portfolio projects. Advanced programs incorporate client work where you address real design challenges. Sessions are available both in-person at our Helsinki studio and through remote participation options.

You'll gain proficiency in industry-standard design tools including Figma as the primary platform, along with Adobe XD and Sketch. We cover prototyping tools like InVision and specialized software for specific tasks. The curriculum also includes design handoff tools used in developer collaboration, basic HTML/CSS understanding for design feasibility, and analytics platforms for measuring user behavior. Tool access is included in course fees, and we provide guidance on building your personal toolkit.

The fundamentals course spans 12 weeks with approximately 8-10 hours of commitment weekly, fitting around work schedules. Advanced interaction design runs 16 weeks with similar time investment. The professional certification is a comprehensive 24-week program requiring 15-20 hours per week. Each includes flexible scheduling options. Some students progress faster by dedicating more time, while others prefer a slower pace to balance other commitments.

You'll create multiple case studies demonstrating your design process from research through final delivery. Each project includes user research documentation, wireframes showing your thinking progression, high-fidelity prototypes showcasing visual design skills, and reflection on decisions and outcomes. Advanced students work on real products with measurable results. We guide you in presenting work effectively, writing compelling case studies, and tailoring your portfolio for different opportunities.

Career support includes portfolio review sessions with industry professionals, guidance on presenting design work effectively, and connections to Helsinki's design community through events and meetups. Professional certification students receive resume optimization specifically for design roles, interview preparation including portfolio presentation practice, and introductions to hiring managers at partner companies. Our alumni network provides ongoing peer support and opportunities for collaboration.
